Water Project Tradeline Tanzania

Tradeline launches two water projects in Tanzania

What does the water project entail?

On World Water Day 2025, we asked our customers to share their ideas for small-scale water projects—projects to which we at Tradeline could contribute by providing drinking water.

Based on this question, two projects in Tanzania have emerged:

Latest updates from Tradeline

Irkeepus School and Hospital
On February 17, 2026, we, Marcel and Helma, visited the project at the school and hospital in Irkeepus. The school, attended by approximately 600 children from the Maasai tribe, is located in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Every day, the children at this school had to walk 1.5 kilometers back and forth to the river carrying jerry cans and buckets to fetch water. This water was used for the children to drink and to prepare their daily corn porridge, to flush the toilets, for the local hospital, and for a number of teachers who live on the school grounds.

Thanks to our donation, two water tanks have been built and connected to a water main located nearby. These water tanks supply running water to the school, the hospital, the teachers, the ā€œkitchen,ā€ and the washrooms.

It was a wonderful project that brought smiles to the students' faces.

Unfortunately, it was raining very hard when we visited the project, so the photos look a bit washed out.

Hospital in Kanga
On Friday, February 27, 2026, we visited the construction site of the hospital being built in Kanga on the island of Mafia.

There are virtually no medical facilities on the tropical island of Mafia. The island’s residents, as well as tourists, have to rely on very basic care at an old ā€œhospitalā€ or from a German woman who has set up a first-aid station.Ā

A doctor on this island could no longer stand by and watch, so with the help of various donations, he is building a new hospital. It is intended to be a facility with high-quality medical services. Of course, access to clean water is also of the utmost importance.Ā

Thanks to our donation, two water tanks will be installed and a private well will be drilled. When we visited the hospital, one of the tanks had already been installed. For now, the hospital still gets its water from its neighbors until its own well is ready.

Many people in the area rely on river water for drinking and irrigating their fields. Dr. Mboko has therefore set up a water tap along the road where villagers can collect water.

Unfortunately, it also started raining very hard while we were visiting the hospital, so these photos got rained on as well.

Although we weren’t happy about the heavy rain, the doctor said we were ā€œblessedā€ to have brought water with us.Ā

Dr. Mboko saw his wish come true: to have his own water supply for his hospital as well as for the villagers.
